Mimbres Serpent Bird

This piece is my interpretation of a Mimbres bowl in Silver City, NM, at the Mimbres Museum at Western New Mexico University.  Its unique design drew my attention immediately.  This piece is mounted on an 11" x 11" piece of 5/8" birch plywood, but is hung diagonally, measuring 16" x 16" in this position.

Please note that the visible color of the copper greatly depends on the light it is reflecting and will vary between photographs and during the course of the day.
